Docs To-do Panel (“the extension”) is a Chrome extension that shows the checklist items of a Google Doc in a floating panel. This policy explains what data the extension handles. In short: it does not collect, transmit or share your data. Everything happens in your browser.

What the extension does with your data

Document content. On Google Docs documents (https://docs.google.com/document/d/*) the extension reads the text of the open document and which checklist items are ticked. It uses this to build the panel: task titles, #tags, due dates and done/not done. This happens locally in your browser. To refresh the panel, the extension re-requests the open document’s own page from docs.google.com, the same address your browser already uses to show the document. The content is held in memory only while the page is open and is never written to storage.

Actions in the document. When you tick a task or press the jump button in the panel, the extension acts in your document the way you would yourself: it uses the Find and replace dialog and keyboard shortcuts to select the task’s line, and ticks the checkbox if you asked for that. While doing so it temporarily changes the dialog’s search options (for example, regular expressions) and puts them back afterwards. The extension makes no other changes to your document.

Settings. The extension stores a few preferences using Chrome’s storage permission (chrome.storage.local, on your device only): sort direction, where tasks without a date appear, the selected tag filter, and whether the panel is minimized. The tag filter value is a tag name taken from your document (for example anna). Nothing else is stored.
